This spring Vitebsk forestry enterprise has conducted forest restoration of the area of 3932 ha, including forest planting and dropping - 3817 ha.  1167 hectares of forest plantations are created by selective planting stock. Reconstruction of forest stands of little value by silvicultural method was carried out on the area of 1034 hectares. 14 hectares of fast-growing wood-shrubby artificial forests are planted ê for fuel and energy purposes. 26.8 thousand New Year fir trees are planted on the area of 6 hectares.
The degree of mixed forest plantations in 2011 is 53.4%. According to the results of the technical acceptance of the artificial stands: spruce has 64.8% of forest plantation, Scotch pine - 29.3%, European ash - 3.3%, English oak - 1.5%, other wood species such as larch, birch , maple, black alder, grey alder, poplar have about 1.1%.
For the growth of planting stock the forest enterprises of Vitebsk state industrial association have 40 nursery-gardens, including 9 permanent.  36345.2 thousand planting stock was grown in the year 2010, including 31702 thousand seedlings, 4643 thousand plantlets.  The main cultivated species in the nursery-gardens are Scotch pine, European spruce, European ash, English oak and larch. In the gardens of Vitebsk state industrial association 34 species of decorative planting  such as trees and shrubs are grown.
